This month's awards from the Guild of Photographers - North Wales Newborn Photographer

I was really shocked to find out over the weekend that I’d been awarded another 3 awards from the Guild of Photographers! “But aren’t you a newborn photographer, taking photos of babies and their parents?!” I hear you ask. Well yes, usually I am. But with lockdown ongoing here in Wales, I haven’t done a newborn photoshoot in over 14 weeks! (That’s all set to change this week, so keep your eye on my Instagram and Facebook pages to see some gorgeously socially distanced newborn and older baby photos.) Over lockdown, I’d been taking my camera out with me on my daily walk and had been comissioned by the BBC to create a gallery of wildflowers that could be seen around my local area. This is what I’ve been taking photos, so this is what I entered into the competition - and it paid off! I recieved 2 bronze awards and 1 high bronze, which is almost a silver. I’m not sure if the high bronze makes me feel better or worse than if it was a bronze, it’s almost like a tease of ‘you were nearly good enough to get a silver’. If you know me in real life, you’ll know that I’m a fairly determined person though, and one day, I will get my silver :)

When I started my photography business a couple of years ago, I didn’t dream that I’d be able to say that I’d won awards, and I’m really proud of myself (and as always, still quite shocked by it!).
